From One Cat to Many: Why Spay/Neuter Matters

Sweet Abi, a gentle soul from a block with more than 25 cats, fell asleep at the vet yesterday. While his passing was heartbreaking, it shed light on an area we hadn’t known about—where several litters of kittens and many kind neighbors are struggling to keep up. Since then, we’ve spayed five females, placed kittens in foster care, and secured more spay/neuter appointments with the help of our rescue partners. There’s still much to do, but Abi’s story is a powerful reminder that spay/neuter is the only way to give these cats safer, healthier lives—and your support makes it possible.

Community Support Keeps RocKats Going

We go through an incredible amount of food, litter, and supplies each month to care for cats in TNR, adoption, foster, and colony programs—over $900 in supplies for our holding space alone, plus rent and adoption center costs. None of this would be possible without the generosity of our community, from donors who “round up” at checkout to the amazing support of Pet Supplies Plus in Fairport and Monroe/Goodman. Special thanks to Lori and Courtney for championing our mission—your help makes a life-saving difference for homeless cats every single day.

Saving Lives, One Cat at a Time

With vet spots limited, we focus on the most vulnerable cats — females, kittens, and the sick or injured. In June, one friendly stray was reunited with her family thanks to a microchip, while others were fixed and made safe. So far this year, 232 cats have been spayed/neutered and vaccinated — a lifesaving effort made possible by our partners, caretakers, and donors.

Love. Trap. Neuter. Repeat.

Huge thanks to our RocKats and Neighborhood Cats Network volunteers for all your help with TNR this week! 🐾
Donations are down, but the need is greater than ever. Just $25 can help us spay/neuter, provide medical care, and prevent suffering for community cats.
