We met a lot of cats in April! Thanks to the @alleycatallies Feline Frenzy, our Sunday clinic at @vsas_ras, and the terrific vet staff at @lollypopfarm and @rochestercommunityanimalclinic we were able to spay/neuter over 50 community cats from the city streets. Many thanks to @pet_adoption_network , @kittenkornerrescue, and Rochester Animal Services for taking in the smallest felines we took off the streets in April 🐱
Can you help us help more cats? Can you donate or foster? If you follow other local cat rescues you have likely seen the words “Closed for Intake”. There just are not enough shelter & adoption resources to give every cat and kitten in this city a home. Kittens born outside face numerous threats, one of which is not being socialized during that limited window of opportunity. Socializing older kittens takes much greater time and effort & rarely is there a foster or rescue who will take on this task as there is no guarantee they will be adoptable 😿 The sad reality is limited resources means often the best we can do is spay/neuter older kittens and return them to their outdoor homes. They will go on to lead healthier lives and won’t contribute to another litter of kittens.
Our focus is spay/neuter of the city’s free-roaming cats. Go to the link in our bio to donate directly. $50 covers the cost of spay/neuter, vaccines, flea & parasite treatment. Your donations are greatly appreciated. We hope that someday, “Closed for Intake” will be a thing of the past 🐱
